Material Experimentation

Pic-pac is a lunchbox that makes packing your lunch stylish and meaningful.

Made from vegetable-tanned leather and inspired by a milk carton, pic-pac gives off a mature aesthetic with echoes of nostalgia for those childhood brown-bagged lunches.

After experimenting with factory cutoffs that were destined for the rubbish bin, I discovered that this soft, natural textile called leather can be reformed and shaped to be sturdy, durable, and even geometric.

I then combined this with the emotive concepts and connotations people associate with the material - warmth, comfort, cows, sustenance.

The result was pic-pac, a functional object born in the connection between the user’s emotionality and the material’s physicality.
